PATENT SPECIALISTWe are seeking an entry level Patent Specialist to be located at our Central NJ or Tampa, FL site.
The Patent Specialist will be part of the Scientific Information and Patent Analysis team responsible for conducting timely, accurate and comprehensive searches and analyses in support of research & development activities, intellectual property protection as well as business development & licensing activities.
The Patent Specialist will work directly with requesters to define the information needs, develop appropriate search strategy, perform the requested search/analysis using appropriate sources, and deliver the results to the requester in a consumable format.
We are looking for a self- motivated individual who can work well in a team environment as well as independently.
Key
Responsibilities:
Understand and interpret client information requests into patent search queries through knowledge of a variety of worldwide patent resources.
Conduct timely, accurate and comprehensive search of worldwide patent literature, prepare and deliver value-added patent analysis reports on a broad range of subject areas in pharmaceutical and biotechnology to support BMS therapeutic and disease areas, including, but not limited to:
Assessment of state-of-the-art, patentability, freedom-to-operate, patent validity, competitive patent landscape, patent assignee, patent expiry & patent legal status.
Monitoring of competitor's patents and research activities on therapeutic targets of interest.
Management of patent surveillances of BMS pipeline assets.
Keep abreast of patenting trends in the biopharmaceutical industry through reading of patent & journal literature, conference attendance & membership in external patent forums/user groups.
This position can be located in either Hopewell, NJ or Tampa, FL location.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONSB.

A.
degree, or equivalent experience in a scientific discipline, preferably in Molecular Biology, Chemistry & related sciences.
Demonstrated ability in basic patent search and analysis and reporting in a professional and/or academic setting.
Some laboratory, clinical, regulatory, or patent agent experience is desirable.
Demonstrated learning agility.
Must be able to review and discuss an unfamiliar topic with an expert in that field, and achieve a sufficient level of knowledge to devise effective search strategies, and perform research and analysis of patent literature.
Strong knowledge and understanding of chemical structure and/or biological sequence nomenclature conventions.
Familiarity of patent filing practices (USPTO, WIPO, EPO), patent classifications (eg, IPC, CPC) and national/regional patent office documentation as well as sources of information on patent status and litigation is desirable.
Experience using commercial patent databases and publicly available patent databases.
Familiarity with reporting & visualization tools including Word, Excel, Spotfire, Bizint Charts for Patents or equivalent applications.
Strong communication (written and oral), customer service and time management/organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-site team environment is essential.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
