BMS' Hopewell site is part of New Jersey's "Biopharmaceutical Life Sciences Cluster," a concentrated area of biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies. Position Description: The candidate will lead internal and partnered projects and will be part of a team driving high performance across cell line and upstream development. The candidate will interface with individual functional subgroups in the department to expand application of omics tools, associated bioinformatics, and data management in Early Process development.  The position needs a proven leader to drive the science to realize significant opportunities in cell line development, upstream and downstream process development, especially as those relating to incorporating omics technologies. The role will report to the Site Director of Biologics Process Development.  This is a large impact position and the candidate will be a member of the leadership team of the Biologics Process Development organization in NJ and works with a group of peers from MA constituting a benchmark biologics development organization. Key Responsibilities: Assess and coordinate implementation of novel technologies to improve current platform processes at the interface of molecular biology, cell line development, upstream and downstream development. Evaluate new multi-omic based technologies to enhance speed and performance and where appropriate introduce them into the biologics development process.  Develop business case for further investment in data analytics and bioinformatics to enable end to end application of multiomics based assessment, visualization of the data to generate insights, and design and application of the gained knowledge To enable data management and bioinformatics and to expand integrated implementation of multi-omics for process enhancement, set up and maintain collaborative interactions with Research and Development, Commercial Process Development, Pharmaceutical Candidate Optimization, Manufacturing Science & Technology and Information Technology.  Maintain state of the art knowledge, present at meetings and publish their results and author technical documents. Support the head of department in technology and continuous improvement initiatives Lead a small team to further these goals. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have: PhD in Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Genetic, Bioinformatics, Cell Biology or relevant field. Minimum of 4-8 or more years of industrialexperience or equivalent. Solid background in molecular biology, cell line development and upstream development A background in common bioinformatics data analysis tools and interest in building up domain knowledge in the multi-omics applications in bioprocessing.
